Members of the Constitutional Reform Commission Meet with Students
The university once again served as a platform for open dialogue. This time, the discussion focused on the new constitutional reform in the country. The meeting with students was attended by the Chairman of the North Kazakhstan Regional Maslikhat, Vladimir Bubenko, and the Chairman of the Public Council of the North Kazakhstan Region, Erlan Tokshalak - members of the Commission on the Constitutional Reform.
The new amendments to the Constitution strengthen the role of Parliament, expand citizens’ participation in governance, reinforce the principles of the rule of law, transparency, and government accountability.
As noted by the participants of the meeting, the university community has always been the intellectual backbone of society. It is here that the values of legal culture, civic responsibility, and an active civic position among young people are formed. Therefore, discussing the key directions of the country’s development within the academic environment is of particular importance.
“The current constitutional process represents a fundamentally new stage. The draft Constitution was prepared by the Commission following extensive public discussions involving citizens, political parties, organizations, and the expert and academic community. It is the result of broad public dialogue and the shared responsibility of the state and society. Over six months, the working group - which included leading legal scholars, experts, representatives of political parties, institutions, and civil society - reviewed more than 2,000 initiatives and proposals submitted by citizens,” said Vladimir Bubenko.
