Daniil Gerasimov Receives a Grant from the Yessenov Foundation

Daniil Gerasimov has become a winner of the annual prestigious competition of the Sh. Yessenov Scientific and Educational Foundation (Yessenov Foundation).

In 2025, grants were awarded to only 10 of the most promising students and young researchers from across Kazakhstan. The selection process included undergraduate, master’s, and internship students, as well as active researchers working in the fields of natural and technical sciences. The winners were selected based on their academic achievements, research experience, and motivation to contribute to the development of science in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Daniil is a third-year student majoring in Biotechnology under a dual-degree program with the University of Arizona. Winning the competition gives him the opportunity to undertake a research internship of up to 90 days in the summer of 2026 at one of the world’s leading international research laboratories, chosen by the participant. The Yessenov Foundation program is aimed at developing a new generation of scientists and preparing young specialists for admission to PhD programs at top universities worldwide.

It is important to note that 9 out of 10 competition winners represent national and research universities. Under these highly competitive conditions, Daniil successfully stood out and ranked among the top ten participants nationwide, confirming the high level of training and research potential of Kozybayev University students.

Daniil Gerasimov is rightfully considered one of the strongest students in his academic program, consistently demonstrating excellent academic and research performance. In the summer of 2025, he gained valuable international research experience by completing a two-month research internship in the laboratory of Professor Jesse Poland at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, Saudi Arabia), which became an important milestone in his professional and academic development.
