Kozybayev University Agro-Competence Center at the World Halal Summit 2025 in Istanbul

The World Halal Summit 2025 is the largest international platform for the halal economy, held in late November at the Istanbul Exhibition Center. The summit brought together representatives of government bodies, businesses, scholars, and researchers from 18 countries. In total, more than 9,000 participants attended. During the event, discussions focused on the development of the halal industry in the fields of food, finance, tourism, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, textiles, and modest fashion, as well as on the formation of new strategies and partnerships for the sustainable growth of the global halal market.

Our staff member, Dr. Saule Musurova, at the invitation of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), delivered a presentation during the “Halal and Hi-Tech” session on how genomic technologies in Kazakhstan can help develop Kazakh wheat varieties with drought resistance, stable productivity, and desirable baking properties. This approach reduces reliance on post-processing and additives, which could affect the halal status of bread and other wheat-based products.
