Our Students Win Prizes at the Regional Urbathon Competition
Urbathon is a competition for pilot project solutions for Petropavlovsk, aimed at fostering urban innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the implementation of practical ideas. This initiative is a major project carried out by the UN Development Programme. The event was organized in partnership with the Akimats of the North Kazakhstan Region and the city, the North Kazakhstan Region Emergency Department, Qyzyljar Creative Center, and SKO Hub.
Participants of Urbathon included students, urban planners, ecologists, IT specialists, designers, and activists — participating individually or in teams. They proposed practical ideas to promote the development of a city resistance to disasters and climate challenges. Projects covered areas such as ecology, urban infrastructure, digital services, creative initiatives, and educational programs.
From our university, participants were 3rd- and 4th-year students of the Department of Biology under the guidance of Aigerim Nusupova. They studied current urban issues and developed inclusive solutions to enhance the stability of Petropavlovsk.
As a result, our team won 3rd place! The students received a prize of 50,000 tenge.
This is a major victory, confirming the high level of training, creativity, and drive for innovation among our students.
We congratulate the students and their mentor on this well-deserved achievement! We wish them continued success, new ideas, and bright accomplishments!
