Kozybayev University Took Part in the First Regional Digital Forum Digital Qyzyljar

At the Qyzyljar Creative Center, a number of IT and creative projects were presented, including student and school startup initiatives, educational platforms, as well as existing digital products.

Among them was the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation of Kozybayev University. Its main goal is to automate processes in order to simplify interaction and foster the development of social sectors, the economy, and business.

“Despite the fact that we only opened on November 3, we already have 8 projects we are working on. One example is a project to automate the timetable creation process, making it more convenient for students and teachers to move between buildings. Another project is an AI ticket system for automating requests. In addition, together with students from Arizona, we are developing automated detection of product defects based on data samples from the company Raduga using AI,” said Gulnara Kim, Director of the Center for AI and Digital Transformation.

The Chairman of the Executive Board – Rector Yerbol Issakayev also spoke at the forum. He noted that today, within the country’s digital ecosystem, universities play a key role - they are becoming centers of expertise, experimental platforms, and innovation.

Kozybayev University is also carrying out systematic work to train a new generation of specialists and to integrate artificial intelligence into educational, managerial, and business processes.

At present, 659 students are studying in IT programs, including 190 in a dual-degree program with the University of Arizona. Of these, 22 students are currently studying in the United States.

Already in this academic year, students are implementing several projects:

  1. Development of a system for automatic detection of product defects based on production data and ML analysis for the company Raduga;
  2. Development of a diagnostic model for assessing the risk of cardiovascular diseases using classification algorithms;
  3. Development of a predictive IT system for forecasting students’ academic performance based on educational metrics, among others.

“Kozybayev University has become the key university of the country for the implementation of the AI Sana program—a national project for the development of artificial intelligence. Today, it is among the top 10 universities and ranks first in the country in terms of the number of students who have completed basic AI courses on platforms such as Huawei, Coursera, and Astana Hub. This is a significant achievement, with more than 11,000 certificates obtained. Five AI agents have been developed for advancing education, transportation, healthcare, and internal analytics. These projects are not just academic prototypes—they are already being implemented in the digital ecosystem of the university and the region,” said Yerbol Issakayev.

The university is also launching KU AI School—an artificial intelligence school where students and high schoolers will learn machine learning skills, web development, and neural network integration. The outcome of this training will be the creation of their own intelligent application—from concept to a viable product.

Today, Kozybayev University is not just training specialists. It is building a regional AI ecosystem, where the university serves as a center of synergy for local executive bodies, business, and science. It is here that solutions are born that can scale to the national level tomorrow.
