A life-long journey in science: Professor Bakhyt Begenova celebrates 75th birthday

The traditional XIII International Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of Natural Sciences» was held at the university. This year, it was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor B.E. Begenova. Bakhyt Estekenovna is a prominent scientist in the field of synthesis and research on the properties of ionites. She participated in an international project on the development of thermostable, chemical, and radiation-resistant polymers. She has published more than 95 scientific works. She has been working at our university since 1977. During this time, she has trained hundreds of qualified specialists in the field of chemistry. Bakhyt Begenova still gives lectures to students and supervises scientific projects. The jubilee was congratulated by the Chairman of the Board, Rector Yerbol Isakaev. He noted the professionalism, creativity, and human qualities of Bakhyt Begenova.

«There are people who are the 'brands' of our university — those who preserve traditions and nurture a generation of young scientists and students. One of them is Bakhyt Estekenovna Begenova. She made a huge contribution to science. She holds 5 inventor's certificates of the USSR, 3 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and 8 innovation patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This shows that our professor is deeply engaged in serious research,» emphasised Rector Yerbol Isakaev.

Bakhyt Begenova thanked the organisers and participants of the conference, as well as the staff of her native faculty and university: «Pedagogical activity and science are lifelong pursuits. Therefore, I am glad that my students have become worthy, successful individuals! Many of them work at our university today. I thank everyone for organising this wonderful event!». In total, the conference received 116 scientific articles, with almost half of them coming from abroad. Their geography is vast: from Moscow to Tashkent and from Ankara to Irkutsk.

Sectional sessions were devoted to topical issues in science and education in the fields of chemistry, biological systems, ecological and geographical research, as well as the theory and methodology of teaching informatics, mathematics, and physics. As part of the event, a scholarship named after Academician U.M. Akhmedsafin — funded by the Grigorievsky rural district of Akkaiynsky district of the North Kazakhstan Region (LLP «Simargl») — in the amount of 100,000 tenge was awarded to its best student, Karina Armienova, who studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS). The winners and prize-winners of the republican competition of student research papers and academic Olympiads in natural and exact sciences received diplomas from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
